This week was indeed delicious. I feel a bit like an infant that learns something new each day.
The only thing that I wonder about is the abundance of information and how to organize it. There is so many great stuff out there that I want to implement in my teaching. I intend to sit down on Tuesday and with the aid of Ritalin/Concerta - think about how to incorporate some of it into my lesson plans. I did not yet buid the lesson plan based on the ABCD method and I believe it would help me a lot if I start from scratch and rebuild my lessons accordingly.
As for Delicious, I must admit that I was frustrated at first. I guess I didn't save the information as I should have and it was erased. I had to understand what I did wrong so as not to repeat my mistake. It took me a few hours to figure out how I want to proceed, what I want to put in, how to save tags etc. Now it seems so easy that I don't know why it took me so long (it's time I recognize my limitations, at my age...ha ha ha). Anyway, the only question I am left with right now is how to put in the URLs of my colleagues so that we can share informaiton more openly. I will see to it this evening, after the day's work.
Have a great, sunny, smiley day,
Shalom,
Nourit
Hello Nourit! Nice post! We are really like the children making the first steps in the course. You are right saying so.
ReplyDeleteWe have learnt so many things during these weeks and it is important to apply all this and make teaching better and more up-to-date by means of technology.
I think you should be sad when you start doing something new in this course. As for me, I even could not create my own blog at first, I was so sad and worried that Robert would expire me (ha ha ha), but then I tried other ways and opened blogger at once, That was really great!
I feel frustrated when I have no time enough to sit here and read all the comments and messages and posts.
Thanks for your wishes and positive emotions!
Perizat
Hi Nourit and Perizat..
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of you..we have learnt many great stuffs since Week 1 and I think I need other bags to keep them as Perizat said on my blog..we are trying to fulfill our bags and ready to "take off ".
I feel the same way with Perizat if I don't have much time to read and post some messages on the board or the blog and also I have slow connection of the internet for few days..
By the way..I think for Delicious page..you can add us as your network..I am planning to add all of you as my network when the connection is okay..
Goodluck with your lesson plans ^^
Cheers
Dhika
Hi Nourit
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your reflection of this week, I couldn't but repeat the lines "I stand corrected"...we all learn by making mistakes,so there is no need for you to be frustrated. Look at the bright side every gap you cover is a step forward, and every step forward is leads to the milestone you want to stretch to.
'Don't worry, be happy!'
Regards,
Eugenie
Hi Nourit,
ReplyDeleteI am Moo. I think we have the same taste! Yes this week is delicious and hopefully it will keep being delicious for the other weeks left. I also do agree with you that we are like an infant learning something new each day. You might be new for something but I believe you are not the infant for all. Everyone is good at something! We think we are like infants because we are adjusting ourselves to another world, the technology world, that is different from the one we have been familiar with. However, we cannot avoid applying technology to our teaching because it is like a modern fishing rod for our students to catch fish.
By the way, you and I have the same idea – disseminating what we have learned in our course to our colleagues. Currently, we have three useful aspects to share with them: blog creation, NoodleTools, and Delicious website. I guess they tend to love them. The other days, I asked two colleagues if they know some about Delicious website. Both of them have no idea about it. When I told them what it is, they would like me to show them. Unfortunately, we were not in the office at the moment. Anyway, my university will start semester 2 next week, I will show them how we can keep our favorite websites and search them quickly.
Enjoy your teaching and learning.
All the best,
Moo
Wow, I didn't look at my blog this week and I see that I missed your comments and encouragements. Thanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that I get frustrated when I don't succeed, but then it is part of my ADHD nature and one must admit that we live in an "instant" age when people want everything here and now. I constantly remind myself not to be too caught up in it. The process of learning and is very important and not only the outcome.
As for dissaminating - Yes, Yes and Yes. I try to "spread the word" around so that our colleagues can benefit as well as our students.
